By: Jay Broderick - Founded in 2014 by brothers Felix and Paul Vogelsang, Vianova is metalcore band that has had monumental growth in their 10 year history. The band's growth is seen first hand in their newest video "Wheel of Fortune".
From Berlin, Germany, Vianova released their first EP in 2018. The 6 track A Place I want to Live in but I Don't Want to Die For was an explosive assault of the the genre that fuses extreme metal with hardcore, but also added elements of jazz and even classical music. In 2023, the band continued their musical growth by releasing the 5 song EP ...A Way Out.
Now, after signing with new record label Arising Empire, Vianova has released their second track for the label, "Wheel of Fortune". What a trajectory these guys have immersed themselves in. There is no band that quickly comes to mind with their musical growth. The track is still rooted in their heavy metal beginnings, but now adds a whole new layer of sounds and genres, as they magically blend soul, funk, indie, and even pop into their sound.
This is a dramatic step for Vianova, and boy, does it work! There is nothing quite like seeing musicians grow. While this doesn't always work (I immediately think of Celtic Frost's attempts to hit the mainstream with Cold Lake), can you imagine if Pantera stayed on their original path?
Check out the accompanying video, and you'll quickly learn what I mean. Jump on board, cuz I suspect it's going to be a fun ride!
