By: Jay Broderick - The 1970s was a decade of some of the best music of our time, and some of the best cinema, the likes of which we will never see again. On the film front, Italian Cinema took a strong foothold in the world of movie lovers. Specifically, genre lovers like horror were in their glory. But another genre of Italian Cinema was called Giallo. These films revolved around murder mysteries, and became a huge phenomenon. The soundtracks to these movies were just as iconic, the likes of which you can get a taste of live, right here in Toronto, in the coming weeks.

UNCLE ACID and the deadbeats are an English band that dwells in the worlds of psychedelia, rock, and doom metal. Most recently however, Uncle Acid has dug into the world of Italian Cinema. Early in 2024, the band's frontman Kevin Starrs created a soundtrack to his concept titled Nell' Ora Blu. Translated as "The Blue Hour", the story tells of the downfall of a corrupt city official, which we gain glimpses of during the soundtrack's progression.

To authenticate his vision, Uncle Acid got Italian film legends Franco Nero and Edwige Fenech to record dialogue that helps push the narrative. Through the sounds of the recording, we are immersed in a haunting world of suspense. Listening to this quickly gives us the cinematic energy that Starrs is undoubtedly striving for, and for fans of this style of film, you'll be transported back to the greatest decade of cinema.

On February 5, 2025, UNCLE ACID and the Deadbeats will open a 13 date North American Tour, where they bring a special performance of this completely unique recording. February 9th will see this rare live presentation come to Toronto where the band will play Nell' Ora Blu in its entirety at Danforth Music Hall. Of course, fans of Uncle Acid will not want to miss this performance, but fans of the Giallo cinematic style will be able to feast on this theatrical act. It'll be unlike anything you've seen.
